| Well, I have the day off of work for the day (PTL), I have my cup of coffee (PTL) and I finally have some time to sit down and write SOMETHING. So, without further ado...here we go. My life is really busy right now...which is how I like it. I'm still working at the school and church, but I have recently added teaching piano. It's funny...when I took piano, I NEVER wanted to be a piano teacher. Don't get me wrong...I really like playing the piano and I like to just sit down and find a song and figure it out etc... I just never wanted to TEACH it. I heard the saying one time "If you wanna make God laugh, tell Him your plans". And I kinda feel like that happened. Now, I didn't sit there and say "Ummm ya know God...I'm not going to ever teach piano I'm going to do "this" instead"...but I tended to remind him quite frequently that I didn't WANT to teach and that I didn't ever PLAN to teach. So, when my sister Staci started teaching piano, I was like "well, I'm soooo glad it's her and NOT me". But, due to circumstanced beyond my control (such as Staci starting Nursing School), her poor kiddos found that they needed a new piano teacher! So, guess what? That's right!!! Mama took over!!!!! (Whew!!!! Got out of that one!!! Thank you Lord it's Mama and NOT me!!!) I should have known better. You can't run from what God has for you. lol One night I was talking to my Mama before bed and she just very innocently said "Ya know Jamee you should think about taking over piano for me. It's not hard AT ALL and it's pretty good money". (Wait a second Lord I said I didn't want to teach piano!!! YOU KNOW THAT!!!!!) I told her (and God) that I didn't want to, that I had never wanted to teach piano. But, my very wise Mama suggested I pray about it...and, God got a hold of me and...voila! I'm a teacher. And you know what? When it's something the Lord wants you to do, He works it all out. And I (get ready for this y'all) actually ENJOY it!!!! lol My students are all sooooo cute and so good and so well behaved. I'm taking on a new one in June and she will be in second grade and my oldest is either a Freshman or Sophmore in high school. Several of them even go to the school where I work, so that's an added bonus for me. (I love the kids at my school...oh my word) They they are all such a joy to teach. I love the looks on their faces when the come up to me and tell me "Miss Jamee I've been working REALLY hard on my song and I know it almost PERFECT!!!!" And then when they play it almost perfect and look at me to get my reaction I just...have to hug them!!!! I'm serious!!!! Most of my students get rewarded with a big hug!!!! (HAHA I'm sure you are thinking right now...Thank you Lord I never took from Jamee Franklin!!!! YIKES lol) We just had our piano recital a few weeks ago and I'll put up a few pictures of my kiddos (as I call them).
The Franklin ladies with their students at the piano recital.
My boss' daughter Katherine. She has been taking for several years and is such a JOY to teach.
Kayla is sooooo much fun. She LOVES playing the piano. It's not unusual for her to come back the week after her lesson and have learned not only the song I gave her, but the next one or two. She is soooo eager to learn and loves to play. This is really random but it's awesome. Our church recently stared a Youth Group. Well our Youth Pastor and his wife are CRAZY and they got this GREAT idea and my Dad agreed. Ok...a little explination is in order. Our denomination's Youth Missions organization is called Speed the Light(STL). They take money that Youth Groups send in and buy cars, sound equipment, etc...basically anything missionaries overseas needs to help further the spread of the gospel. So, Pastor George and Krystal come up with this fund-raiser idea for our church. They gave everyone Pringle cans and told them to eat the pringles and then put their spare change in the cans and bring them back to church. (Good idea!! We got some decent money for STL but hey wanted us to raise MORE!!) So, Krystal went to a costume shop and found 3 different outfits. 1.) A Gangster outfit, 2.) A Pirate and 3.) a 70s man complete with yellow suit and black afro. Their idea was people were to vote which costume they liked better by putting money in the cans designated for each costume. Whichever costume got the most money by May 4th, Pastor Franklin and Pastor George would wear that costume to church (on Mother's Day y'all!!!) So, that started a mad frenzy of giving and searching pockets, rooms, cars, couches...any where you can find change. So, on Mother's Day, May 11, 2008 we had a couple men come "visit" us in some STRANGE clothes. Behold!!!
Pastor George and Pastor Franklin (2 crazy but loveable guys). And yes my Dad and George wore the costumes for the whole entire service. My dad did take off his afro and shades, but other than that...we had to look at them like that till church was done. It was soooo funny!!!!
lol check out the shoes!!!!!!
This is some of the youth group. Between the youth and the rest of the church, we raised over $800. Praise the Lord!!!!! Not bad for a small church eh? So, that's the latest in my life as far as work goes. As far as pleasure (off work time) goes, I'm flying to VA the end of this month for a week to see my cousin!!! I'm really excited about that. I haven't seen her since Christmas and REALLY miss her ALOT. So, you may not hear from me for a little bit, but I promise I will come back and tell y'all hello sometime again. Thanks for reading!!! Love y'all!!! |
